Des Moines, Iowa (November 10, 2009) - Stogdill's TV & Appliance announces that the retail store at 4908 Franklin Avenue will soon close. The going out of business sale began Friday, November 13, and will continue until all merchandise is sold. All pending sales and service transactions will be honored and completed prior to closing.

A true slice of the "American Dream," Arlo & Bev Stogdill began Stogdill's in 1957 repairing radios and TVs in their basement. After years of being known for quality service, they outgrew the basement and moved to the first shopping center in Iowa - Franklin Plaza - where they added sales of TV's and later appliances. In 1978 they moved to their current location at 49th & Franklin. In 1996 Arlo's son Jim and his wife Vicki purchased the business and have owned and operated it ever since.

Stogdill's TV & Appliance has served the Des Moines area with quality sales and service for 52 years. In that time many changes have occurred in their industry and in their community. While the current economic and state & federal government climate have certainly been factors in their decision, Jim and Vicki found that they have changed over the years too - and are very excited to pursue their strong personal callings in new opportunities of service to their community.

Jim Stogdill began theological training in 2001 and graduated in 2008 from Concordia Seminary in St. Louis Missouri, and has accepted a call to be pastor at Messiah Lutheran Church in Johnston, Iowa.

Vicki Stogdill plans to devote more time to social and economic issues while she serves a select list of clients and non-profit organizations that share her personal goals and commitments.

While "That Place on Franklin" is closing, the Stogdill family is excited to announce that they have partnered with Green's Appliance, Heating, and Cooling to provide Stogdill's customers with ongoing service and warranty support on their appliance purchases.

By partnering with Green's Appliance, Heating, and Cooling, 1450 NE 69th Place, Ankeny, (515) 323-0680, the Stogdill family carries on their commitment to service to assure that their customers will continue to receive the same level of service excellence that has been a Stogdill's tradition for 52 years.

Both Jim and Vicki Stogdill have enjoyed serving the people of central Iowa and have been blessed to have made so many friends and acquaintances over the years. We look forward to continuing those friendships and continuing to serve our community through the new paths that we are called to pursue.
